Waipoua Forest
Map of the Northland
So the last leg of our trip included driving through the Waipoua forest and stopping a few times to see their famous Kauri trees. We had to take a short ferry ride and stopped for lunch first and for many scenic views along the way. As you can see, NZ is a photographer's dream. We may not be photographers, but we sure are living the dream! Oh ya, and if we haven't mentioned it, that is our hot litle rental car Colette. She's a beaut. A little sluggish up the hills, but she sure got us where we needed to be, and we even passed people once or twice!
Tane Mahuta was up first, and of course the pics do not do justice to the size and magic that these trees embody. Felt like a very sacred place. They are very far back from the walking paths so it is hard to see here how massive the actually are.
Linda was especially impressed by the girth...and Jodi said, "I've seen bigger"
Next up were the 4 Sisters, smaller but all in a cozy lil group, see if you can find the mom and daughter ;)

Hi Tawn
So sorry to hear about your spider bite. Hope that is not like the brown recluse spider but it can't be or we would be hearing just about what you just described. Lavender essentil oil is supposed to be good for insect bites. We hope you recover quickly. Does icing it help?
I just cut up my soap today--made it a few days ago with Sharon & Rose. Aaron went to Calgary today for a week for co. orientation. For him it is also 6 months on the job.
We love you & miss you. Take care of that foot.
Love you Mom & Dad
Hi Girls, I guess I know what jet lag is and I can hardly wait for the weekend to catch up on my sleep. Just a word out to all that read the blog, Jodi and Tawnya very much look forward to reading your comments, so if you want the blog to continue as it is very time consuming, keep posting your comments as they are much appreciated. Girls you did a excellent job on capturing my stay with you, I had a great time and I hope to be back in the spring. Lots of love and I miss you both. Love Mom K.
Hey there, Jodi & Tawnya! Just had some lunch at The Keg with your Dad and Landon. He seems to be surviving TO. I guess the weather there is quite nice...like in the 20's! Crazy. Also got a perspective from him on how to encourage 16 year olds on studying...maturity, ambition, etc. Was interesting. So, I hear you have a pretty booked up tour season. ha ha. How do you fit in work? Lucky you. Have lots of fun and enjoy yourselves! Jenn
Hi u 2.I enjoy reading your blog, please keep it up. Mom K arrived home safe & sound, & loaded up with lots of chocolate treats. There must be a choc. monster in the house as I can't seem to find any, & someone wants more!! The kiwi chocolate was a big hit. Looking forward to seeing you both in March. Uncle J. a.k.a CM
Hello!! Gearing up to get an extra hour of daylight this weekend...do you all have to change time? Inquiring minds want to know.
Snow predicted for Sunday...your Dad's getting one of the kids sleds up and repaired so no doubling this season. He is in Phoenix right now with the Monday-Nite golf guys enjoying the 80 plus temps. Two more weeks and I'll be enjoying the sights of the Sonoran Desert.
Chiehla (sp?) must be ready to have her baby any day now. As far as I know, she is still having a home birth.....no DRUGS!!!! Ahhh hh! Aunty Susan is just beside herself, of course.
Sounds like everything is going well for you gals down there...enjoy. Jenn
